Im doing my rhetorical analysis on the essay, "Education in a Multicultural Society: Our Future's Greatest Challenge," by Lisa D. Delpit. Delpit's purpose for writing this essay is to bring everyone's attention the difficulty educators have educating diverse students. For her background she use personal encounters to show how students of different cultures had to be taught differently.
Delpit's audience is teachers and prospective teachers. This purpose is to instill information into them on how to become better educators.
The text is basically telling teachers that they need to see things and do not consider how the students sees things. The tools that were used to make the text were personal experiences of Delpit.
This essay takes occurs in todays society. It takes place in various places across the United States.
I did my paper on the same topic as you. I think that she did an excellent job informing her readers about the difficulity educators have with educating diverse students. I also think she did a good job with providing examples of how difficult it is to educate diverse students.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think she wants to bring attention to the problem with educators teaching diverse students. I thought that background was supposed to be about the authors background, though? I never thought about the purpose being that teachers don't see how students see things, but that's a good point. Everything else is basically the same that I wrote.
